Bram Ironfell, the scion of the house that had first discovered the Karak Lode told the party that if they successfully recovered the location of the mines, then perhaps the city could use the materials within to arm and expand its armies. Hailed as Heroes of Overlook at this point, the party then took two jobs: Find a magical orb for a necromancer of the city, and also attempt to rediscover the lost Mines of Karak. The party fought their way under the mountains and sealed the central passageway that the orcs were using by flooding it with boiling water. When they arrived, they found the inhabitants slain, and only a single survivor-who warned that the Orcs were using the tunnels beneath the mountains to attempt to stealthily attack Overlook from behind. They travelled there to offer their assistance, and volunteered to travel to the Monastery of the Sundered Chain to warn the dwarves there of Orcish marauders that had snuck past the Stonehome Mountains. ![]() This Emissary exhorted them to spread chaos and destruction in the name of the Red Hand of Doom.Īfter returning to Brindol, the party learned that the dwarven city of Overlook was being threatened by a large orc horde. The party was hired by the Council of Brindol to recover the citizens, and after doing so, discovered that the hobgoblin leader had been supplied by a mysterious being known only as "the Emissary". The party started in Brindol, when hobgoblins attacked the town, and stole off with several citizens of the town.
